Embedding MSP 2007 Training Workshop

Purpose

The purpose of this one day workshop is to enable current and future programmes to use the changes made to Managing Successful Programmes (MSP™) in 2007 as pragmatically as possible.
 
Objectives
 
By the end of the event delegates will:
  • Understand the differences between the 2003 and 2007 versions of MSP in terms of people, processes and products.
  • Be able to decide which changes to introduce into existing programmes.
  • Recognise opportunities within their own organisation for maximising the potential for agility in programmes.
  • Be able to use a well-defined process for moving from a Vision Statement to a Benefits Map.
  • Understand the different approaches to embedding programme management in an organisation
Format
 
The workshop is in two parts: the first half is a stand-alone seminar to be delivered in half a day.

The second half is an optional add-on workshop to be delivered on the same day. Interaction is encouraged throughout.

The workshop starts at 09:30 and finishes at 16:30.

Part 1: MSP 2007 – What’s new?
  • Overview of what has and has not changed in MSP
  • Principles and overview of Themes
  • People: changes and enhancements to programme organisation, roles, stakeholder engagement and linkage to PRINCE2™ Project Boards
  • Processes: changes to guidance in governance themes, e.g. for benefits management, and to the overall transformational flow, i.e. the flow from programme initiation to closure
  • Products: New  MSP products and changes to existing products
Part 2: Pragmatic programme techniques
  • How to create a good, useful Vision Statement, i.e. a solid foundation for a programme
  • Demonstration of a technique for moving from Vision Statement to Benefits Map
  • Uses of the Benefits Map throughout a programme.
  • How to increase agility in programmes.
  • Strategies and techniques for embedding MSP
