In June of this year OGC launched version 2 of their portfolio, programme and project management maturity model.
The key changes from the previous model are:
- P3M3 v2 is based on a ‘continuous’ representation rather than a ‘staged’ representation – making it easier to benchmark
- P3M3 v2 is written in plain English – making it easier to understand
- P3M3 v2 is constructed such that each discipline (projects, programmes, portfolio) can be assessed independently or as an integrated set
- P3M3 v2 is better aligned to (although not dependent on) OGC best practice products of PRINCE2™, MSP™ and M_o_R®
- P3M3 v2 includes self-assessment checklists
We are pleased to announce that our next P3M3 workshop being held in London on 11th September will not only be based on P3M3 v2 but will also be co-delivered by Rod Sowden the P3M3 lead author (and MSP lead author).
Attendees will now benefit from the practical advice of the most experienced maturity assessors and the insight of the person who designed and developed the revised model! Attendees will learn
- What maturity models are and how to use them
- How to plan a maturity assessment
- Using P3M3 to conduct a self assessment
- Analysing maturity results and prioritising improvement initiatives
- The process for and benefits of P3M3 accreditation

Outperform are widely recognised as a leader in maturity modelling generally and in the application of P3M3 specifically.
